South Korea’s women’s tennis team will face Brazil in the 2023 Billie Jean King Cup playoffs.
The Korea Tennis Association (KTA) announced on Friday that the tournament’s playoff draw, conducted by the International Tennis Federation (ITF), has resulted in South Korea playing Brazil away in November.
The playoffs between Korea and Brazil will be played over two days, on Oct. 10-11 or Nov. 11-12, in a best-of-five series (four singles and one doubles). Two singles matches will be played on the first day and two singles and one doubles match on the second day.스포츠토토
If South Korea defeats Brazil in the playoffs, they will advance to the last 16 of the Billie Jean King Cup 2024, the final gateway to the main draw, while if they lose, they will drop back to Group 1 qualification.
South Korea is undefeated in the all-time series against Brazil, with one win. They won 2-0 in the 1985 World Group semifinals in Japan.
The Billie Jean King Cup, the national women’s tennis tournament, is divided into three stages: the main draw, which is the round of 16, the playoffs, which determine which teams advance to the main draw, and the regional group stage.
The playoffs will be contested by the losers of the main draw and the winners of each regional Group 1 qualifier.
South Korea qualified for the playoffs for the first time in 25 years after finishing second in its group at the 2023 Billiard King Cup Asia & Oceania Regional Group 1 Qualifier in Uzbekistan in April.
