The Korean men’s tennis team competes in Group C with Spain, Serbia and the Czech Republic in the Davis Cup finals, a national competition.
The International Tennis Federation (ITF) announced the results of this year’s Davis Cup final grouping on the 30th.
Korea, ranked 15th in the Davis Cup rankings, was in Group C along with Spain, 2nd, Serbia, 8th, and the Czech Republic, 13th. Group C matches will be held in Valencia, Spain, from September 12th to 17th.
Sixteen countries will participate in the Davis Cup finals, divided into four groups, and the top two countries in each group will advance to the final in Malaga, Spain in November.
The Korean men’s tennis team beat Belgium 3-2 in their final match against Belgium held in Songpa-gu, Seoul last month. After being dragged 0-2, they miraculously won 3-2 and succeeded in advancing to the finals for the first time in history for two consecutive years.
This is the fifth time Korea has reached the Davis Cup finals, following 1981, 1987, 2007 and last year.
