Tottenham Hotspur has confirmed the schedule for their upcoming pre-season tour. A meeting between Son Heung-min and Jose Mourinho is expected.
Tottenham announced on its official website on the 16th (Korean time) that the men’s first team will play a friendly against Leicester City in the 2023 Asia-Pacific Tour. The venue is the Rajamangala National Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.
The club said, “After playing the ‘London Derby’ against West Ham in Perth, Australia on July 18, we will visit Thailand for the first time since founding, and will play against Leicester City at Rajamangala Stadium on July 23.”
With this, Tottenham has confirmed all of the 2023 pre-season tour schedule. The club had previously announced tours to Australia and Singapore. In Singapore, a friendly match will be held against AS Roma (Italy) under Mourinho, former Tottenham manager, at the Singapore National Stadium on July 26.
For the first time in history last season, Tottenham conducted a pre-season tour of Korea in which the entire squad participated. After taking a break in Korea after the season, Son Heung-min joined the Tottenham team and went on a pre-season tour. 스포츠토토
Similar to the pre-season schedule that was held at the time, events to experience local culture such as open training events and various activities will be held in Bangkok.
Son Heung-min also participated in the Singapore pre-season tour in 2019. At the time, Tottenham played an ICC (International Continental Cup) match against Juventus, and Son Heung-min and Cristiano Ronaldo met and showed their friendship.
In this pre-season tour, a reunion with former teacher Mourinho is expected. Mourinho was especially fond of Son Heung-min, and Son Heung-min also made known the reputation of the Son-Kae duo as the most goal collaboration in a single season in the Premier League under his direction. At the 2020 International Football Federation (FIFA) ceremony, he even received the Puskas Award, given to the best goal of the year.
Meanwhile, Son Heung-min will enter the country for A-match and rest in June after the end of the 2022/23 season on the 29th. The Korean national soccer team, led by coach Jurgen Klinsmann, will play two consecutive matches in Busan on June 16 and Peru on June 20 and in Daejeon on the 20th.
