‘New Empress of Ice’ Kim Min-seon (24, Korea University) won the 31st Winter World University Games (Winter Universiade) by setting a track record (the highest record in the stadium) in the women’s 1000m speed skating.
This is the first gold medal for Korean athletes in this event.
On the 16th at the Olympic Center Speed Skating Oval in Lake Placid, New York, USA, Min-sun Kim took first place out of 35 competitors with a record of 1:20:46.
Kim Min-seon, who started on the 18th group out course, the last group, passed her first 200m in her overall best time of 18.52, and then crossed the finish line comfortably, breaking all of her records in first place. Among the contestants, Kim Min-sun is the only one who set a record of 1 minute and 20 seconds.
Because she competed in an outdoor stadium, she set a record far below her personal best (1:13:790), but she found it difficult to find an opponent on the stage of the Universiade, where university students compete.
Kim Min-seon is the world’s best sprinter, having swept the women’s 500m event in the International Skating Union (ISU) World Cup series this season.먹튀검증
She is also performing well in the women’s 1000m, which is not her main event. Last year she won a silver medal in the women’s 1000m at the World Cup 1st event in November, and she is ranked fifth in the world rankings in that event.
Kim Min-seon aims for two gold medals in the main event, the women’s 500m, which will be held on the 20th.
Park Chae-won (Korea National Sport University), who competed in the same event that day, won the bronze medal with a record of 1:21:85.
Meanwhile, in the figure skating men’s single free skating event held at the 1980 Rink at the Lake Placid Olympic Center on the same day, Lee Si-hyeong (Korea University) received 71.98 points in the technical score (TES), 72.60 points in the artistic score (PCS), and 1 point in total, 143.58 points in total. With a final total score of 218.75, including the short program score (75.17 points), he placed 6th overall. Cha Young-hyeon (Korea University), who competed in the same event, ranked 7th with a final total of 208.03 points.
