Hello. I’m Joo Jae-hun from the Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power Archery Club in Uljin-gun, Hanul!”
When asked to introduce himself, Joo Jae-hoon, the national archery compound representative, revealed his affiliation as follows. ‘Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power’ is not an unemployment team, but a workplace where Joo Jae-hoon works as a police officer. Joo Jae-hoon, who held a bow as a hobby while working, was selected as the 2023 archery compound national representative.
■ Archery started as a hobby… Training in barns while watching ‘YouTube’
The first time Joo Jae-hoon encountered archery was in 2016, when he was in his third year of college. Out of curiosity, he searched for ‘archery’ on the Internet, and a nearby archery club came out, and the experience was the beginning. Joo Jae-hun, who fell in love with compound archery, did not let go of the bow even while working as a professional. He brought a target directly to an empty barn of an acquaintance and practiced it, while he studied and studied while watching YouTube. He took a vacation from the company and swept the club competitions he participated in. In the summer of 2019, the entire container for storing archery equipment was blown away due to a major typhoon, but it was re-equipped and started from scratch. There is only one reason, because archery was fun.메이저사이트
■ Selected national team after 5 challenges… Although he was a member of the group who was confirmed to participate in the Hangzhou Asian Games,
he always dreamed of a Taegeuk mark. He challenged every year even before the national team selection. However, the wall for his players was high and seemed insurmountable. This year, the 5th challenge, Joo Jae-hoon finished 4th in the final rankings in the evaluation match, and even won the Hangzhou Asian Games, which is given up to 4th place along with the selection of the national team. Joo Jae-hoon, who entered the Jincheon National Training Center on March 30th, says that every day is like a dream.
■ Asian Games official event ‘Compound’… “The next dream is a medal!”
Archery compound events are very different from recurve, starting with equipment. If the recurve is closer to the traditional bow using human power, the compound uses a mechanical bow with a wheel and a kind of pulley attached to the bottom and top of the wing. A strong bow can be pulled with weak force, so it is easy for beginners to touch. There is also an analysis that ‘more than 70% of the world’s archery population is compound’.
However, unlike recurve, compound is not yet an official Olympic event. So, although it was relatively unnoticed in Korea, a recurve powerhouse, it seems that it will change in the future. Asian Games archery adopts both recurve and compound as official events, and a total of 10 medals are at stake. In addition, there is a high possibility that the compound will be adopted as an official event from the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. You can dream of another field of medals. In line with this atmosphere, Joo Jae-hoon, a national representative from a club, is also dreaming of a bigger dream.
