National Basketball Association (NBA) superstar Carmelo “Melo” Anthony is hanging up his jersey.
Anthony posted a short video to his social media accounts today (March 23). “It’s time to say goodbye to the court that’s been my everything,” he said, announcing his retirement.
Anthony was drafted by the Denver Nuggets with the No. 3 overall pick in the 2003 NBA Draft and became a superstar in the 2000s, especially when he formed a rivalry with then-No. 1 pick LeBron James of the Los Angeles Lakers.메이저놀이터
Anthony went on to play for the New York Knicks, Oklahoma City Thunder, Houston Rockets, Portland Trailblazers, and Los Angeles Lakers, scoring a whopping 28,289 points. That ranks him second all-time in scoring and ninth overall.
Although Anthony never won an NBA championship ring, he did win three Olympic gold medals (2008-2012-2016). His individual honors are equally impressive. A 10-time NBA All-Star, two-time All-NBA Second Team, four-time All-NBA Third Team, and 2013 scoring champion, he averaged 22.5 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 2.7 assists in 19 seasons.
After playing the 2021-22 season in Los Angeles, Anthony was unable to find a team. He announced his retirement on March 23, bringing his career to a close.
