Texas Rangers Jacob deGrom (35) has been on the injured list since the first season of transfer.
MLB.com, the official major league media outlet, said on the 30th (Korean time), “Texas put DeGrom on the injured list for 15 days due to inflammation of the right elbow. Jerry Rodriguez has been called up to the major leagues to replace deGrom.”
DeGrom is a special ace representing the major leagues. He played 215 career games (1356⅓ innings). He went 84-57 with a 2.53 earned run average and won the Cy Young Award twice (2018 and 2019). Last winter, he signed a five-year, $185 million contract with Texas.
DeGrom, who is recording an average ERA of 2.67 with 2 wins in 6 games (30⅓ innings) this season, was replaced due to an injury while recording no runs in 3⅔ innings, 1 hit, 1 walk, 2 strikeouts, against the Yankees on the 29th.
MLB.com reports, “DeGrom threw 28 pitches (20 for strike) in his first three innings in his final appearance. He came off the mound in the fourth inning after throwing 22 pitches (12 strikes), giving up a walk and a hit. Although he was injured, his fastball velocity stayed in the high 90s and he topped out at 100 mph (161 km) several times. His last fastball velocity was 96.6 miles (155.5 km), which was the slowest fastball in the game.” 스포츠토토
DeGrom was placed on the injured list for the first time this season. MLB.com said, “DeGrom was replaced early due to right wrist pain in the game against Kansas City on the 18th, but he returned to normal in the next appearance. Concerned about deGrom’s injury, he said, “Texas was well aware of deGrom’s injury history at the time of the contract. A two-time National League Cy Young Award winner and four-time All-Star, deGrom hasn’t started more than 15 games in a season since 2019,” he said.
