15-year-old Czech Brenda Fruvirtova (135th) advanced to the finals as the youngest Australian Open qualifier. Her sister, along with her older sister Linda Fruvir Tova, 17, who qualified for her main event, made it to the main event at the same time.
Fruvir Tova lost to Leila Fernandez (Canada, No. 40) in the first round of the WTA250 ASB Classic in Auckland, New Zealand just prior to the Australian Open, but she managed to win three straight victories in Australian Open qualifiers.
Fruvir Tova made her professional debut at the WTA125 Hana Bank Korea Open in December 2021.
